CityAirbus NextGen

Eight props, fixed wing, V-tail

CityAirbus NextGen is Airbus's all-electric, four-seat lift-plus-cruise eVTOL prototype. It has eight electric propellers, a fixed wing and a V-tail, a wingspan of about 12 m and a two-tonne weight class. Airbus designed it for an 80 km operational range at 120 km/h cruise. The prototype first flew in November 2024 at Donauwörth and flew weekly tests, including transitions, through 2025. In January 2025 Airbus said it would pause the programme once that campaign was complete, because batteries can't yet support the four-passenger, 80–100 km mission. No service entry is planned. Not type-certified; not for sale.

Status
Airbus paused the programme after the 2025 flight-test campaign, citing insufficient battery maturity for the 4-passenger, 80–100 km mission

For

  • Airbus-published design figures: 80 km, 120 km/h, 4 seats
  • Full-scale prototype flew, including transitions

Against

  • Programme paused; no service entry planned
  • Not for private sale; no type certificate
