One card covers two names: Model Zero is Alef's previous R&D model (FAA Special Airworthiness Certificate, experimental, June 2023); the Model Zero Ultralight is the current test model. Model A is the intended consumer product on the pre-order page, and it is not type-certified. Manufacturer figures for Model A: 200 miles on the road, 110 miles in flight, all-electric, distributed propulsion with no exposed propellers, and a gimbaled cabin. Official pre-order price is $299,999 expected. Deposits are $150 or $1,500 — those are not the aircraft price. Road path is a specially constructed vehicle (SPCNS); an earlier low-speed-vehicle route was upgraded to a full SPCNS. A hydrogen option may be offered later at a higher price; no range or price for it is published. Alef has not published mass, battery kWh or cruise speed. A whole-vehicle ballistic parachute is on the manufacturer safety list.
