Amphibious light-sport — piston, not eVTOL
Amphibious two-seat light sport aircraft from California-based ICON Aircraft, powered by a Rotax 912 iS Sport piston engine (100 hp). Listed here as a personal-aircraft reference; it is not an eVTOL. ICON's A5 page lists max speed (Vh) 95 KTAS (176 km/h), range 427 nm with 45 min reserve, MTOW 1,510–1,570 lb, useful load 430–490 lb (ICON estimate), baggage 60 lb, takeoff 640 ft on runway / 840 ft on water and landing 590 ft / 700 ft (at 1,510 lb, standard conditions, sea level), and a 34.8 ft wingspan with manually folding wings. It runs on 91-octane auto gas or 100LL from a 20 gal tank. Standard safety features include the Spin-Resistant Airframe, angle-of-attack indicator and ICON Parachute System. The A5 LSA is an FAA Special Light Sport Aircraft (S-LSA production audit completed 15 June 2015); ICON's Certified Edition received FAA type certification in the Primary Category on 26 December 2023, with the same performance specifications. ICON's 2024 announcement gave a starting price of $409,000 for the 2024 A5 Limited Edition.
